Principal Stephanie Alston led two successful meetings with parents and students on July 10 and July 13 at Perry Memorial Library in Henderson to share information about the transformation of E.M. Rollins Elementary School to a year-round STEAM Academy for the 2017-2018 school year.
The Vance County Board of Education at its meeting on Monday, April 17, approved the year-round calendar for the 2017-2018 school year for E.M. Rollins Elementary School, which has been designated as a restart school by the state.
The Vance County Board of Education at its regular monthly meeting on April 17, approved a funding request of $10,219,321 for appropriations from Vance County for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
E.M. Rollins Elementary School is now a year-round school focusing on instruction for students
in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.
Principal Stephanie Alston of E.M. Rollins Elementary School spoke to members of the Henderson Rotary Club on Tuesday, July 25, about the new STEAM Academy and year-round calendar for her school for the 2017-2018 school year. She stressed that her school is taking a new approach to teaching and learning with instruction for students focused on project-based learning in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. The STEAM Academy is "Different by Design!"
