On Friday, September 16th, North Carolina State Human Resources Director, Barbara Gibson, and North Carolina State Budget Director, Charles Perusse, visited Pinkston St. Elementary School, and read a book to students. They also visited the Center for Innovation. The NC Office of State Budget & Management (OSBM) and the NC Office of Human Resources (OSHR) donated school supplies to our students. The Vance County Board of Education voted to appoint Mr. Rey Horner as the Executive Director of Student Services at the September 12th meeting.
Vance County Public Schools is partnering with the Vance County Fire Department to host the Vance County Public Safety Expo on September 10th. The event will take place at the old Charles Boyd Chevrolet Lot on US 158 Bypass from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be informational booths, safety car seat checks, giveways & more. Vance County Schools students made growth for the 2021-2022 school year based on accountability data released today by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. Fifteen of our district’s schools are meeting and/or exceeding growth in one or more areas. The results were made public today after the data was presented to the N.C. State Board of Education.
The Vance County Public School Foundation (VCPSF) awarded eleven Vance County School teachers with Learning that Extends Actual Performance (LEAP) Mini-Grants at the 2022-23 Convocation on August 23 at McGregor Hall. A total of $20,000 was awarded, made possible through the VCPSF and a $10,000 donation from MAKO Medical.
