  • E.O. Young Students Vote on Biscuits

    E.O. Young, Jr. Elementary School students had a unique opportunity on October 30, to sample a new biscuit during their lunch period and vote on whether or not they liked it. Based on the students' feedback, the school system will decide if it wants to provide the new biscuit with school meals at all local schools.

  • E.O. Young Ready to Implement Opportunity Culture

    Exciting changes are coming to E.O. Young, Jr. Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year. Principal Marylaura McKoon and her colleagues on the school's design team for the Opportunity Culture initiative are completing plans to implement the innovative program to benefit students and staff members in the school.

    Our school system has taken precautionary measures to conserve food during the federal government shutdown to ensure all students will still receive breakfast and lunch each day at school.

    The Vance County Board of Education at its regular monthly meeting recognized top local teachers whose students recorded outstanding academic results in the 2017-2018 school year.

  • AdVance Academy Has 24 Mid-Year Graduates

    AdVance Academy, the alternative high school for Vance County Schools, presented high school diplomas to 24 graduating seniors during mid-year commencement exercises held during the evening of December 18.

  • Students Perform for 'Sounds of the Season'

    Students from our schools came to the school system's Administrative Services Center in the days prior to the Christmas break to provide special holiday music for employees, visitors and special guests during "Sounds of the Season" performances.
