Our Mission

  • The mission of the New Hope Elementary School faculty is to teach for learning and to provide an environment where children enjoy learning.  It is our aim to provide a safe and quality learning environment which fosters self-motivated, life-long learners who will become productive citizens and future leaders.

  • Weekly Update: September 13, 2021

    Hello New Hope Wildcat Family. The early release day is Wednesday, September 15. Dismissal is at 12 noon. Please make sure transportation arrangements for your scholar has been made if they are car riders. Our instructional day begins at 8:00 a.m. Thank you for making every effort to have your child at school on time and ready to learn. We are making every effort to keep your child safe at school as we focus on social distancing, wearing masks, and hand washing. Please talk with your child as well and send them to school with a mask or face covering. Beginning of year assessments have begun and will continue with I- Ready and M-class. The students should bring their devices with chargers to school daily. As always thank you for your support. Continue to stay safe and have a great week.

  • Vance County Schools Named National Beta District of Distinction for 2021-2022 School Year

    National Beta is proud to announce Vance County Schools as a 2021-2022 National District of Distinction. This award is given to those deserving districts who offer National Beta in all schools in their district, and who induct qualifying students in all eligible grades 6-12 in our traditional schools. Vance County Schools is one of only 36 districts to receive this award nationwide.

  • High-Tech Learning Accelerator Provides Experience for 2 VCS Students

    As members of the North Carolina High-Tech Learning Accelerator (NCHTLA) Advisory Council, two of our high school students, Briannah Royster and Joshua Hernandez, and our innovation lead, Dr. Destiney Ross-Putney, had the opportunity to participate in a two-day design lab in Wilmington, NC. Thirty-two students and nineteen innovation leads across the state worked in collaborative groups to tackle the design question, "What kinds of learning experiences might you design to help students learn about, prepare for, and pursue high-tech jobs?"

  • Vance County Schools Arts Alive 2022 Champion of the Arts & Superintendent's Choice Awards Winner Recipients

    Arts Alive 2022 gave us a day full of art and appreciation, as our Vance County Schools students showcased their talents through visual and performing arts, as well as a culinary art experience.​​ Let's congratulate Jessie Trujillo, winner of the Superintendent's Choice Award, and the Vance County School's Board of Education, recipient of the Champion of Arts Award. Congratulations!

  • Center for Innovation's (CFI) Gargoyle Garden Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

    Vance County Schools held a ribbon cutting today for Gargoyle Garden, a musical garden located at the Center for Innovation (CFI), located at 219 Charles Street. The garden is filled with musical instruments that provide experiences for students to learn about beats, music, echo, reverberation and much more! The garden is named after the gargoyles positioned across the facade as part of the 1930's construction of the building.

  • Dabney Elementary Enhances Literacy through the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Library Grant

    Students at Dabney Elementary School have been afforded the opportunity to enhance their reading selections, as their library grew substantially during 2021-2022. With hundreds of new titles, students are renewing their love for reading and finding books that match their interests. This incredible enhancement was made possible through the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries.
