Course Load Policy
VCECHS students are registered in a minimum of one (face-to-face) high school class per semester.
A full-college course load is twelve to fourteen credits per (fall/spring) semester. VCECHS students are registered in a maximum of four courses or fourteen credit hours per fall and/or spring semester.
(Note: VGCC lab courses are typically one credit and required for some science/math courses)
VCECHS Summer Course Enrollment
VGCC summer courses are eight week sessions. VCECHS students are welcome to enroll in one college course during the summer semester. However, due to the rigor and pace of two college courses in an eight-week period, pre-requisites have been determined to assist students in successfully completing two sixteen week courses in an eight-week period. (Freshmen are permitted to register for one summer college course if so desired.)
The following pre-requisites are in place for sophomores-senior students desiring to register for two summer courses:
- student has not failed or withdrawn from a college course for fall or spring semester of current enrollment year
- students have an over-all weighted GPA of 3.4 at the end of spring semester of current enrollment year
- students have scored math and/or English ready on the ACCUPlacer by the end of spring semester of current enrollment year
- students who would be three or fewer credits short an obtaining an Associate Degree in their fourth year of VCECHS enrollment, who have an over-all weighted GPA of 3.2 at the end of spring semester of current enrollment year, and all other above listed pre-requisites
VGCC summer school tuition is currently waived; however, tuition may be charged upon notice. Students are responsible for the purchase of access codes and/or supplies, in addition to textbooks that are not currently in VCECHS inventory.
