Our Goal
Linking Resources to Strengthen Public Education
Vison
“Encouraging successful development of our young generation by promoting quality education through community support in Vance County”
Challenge
Priority recruitment and retention of teachers show the community that we believe in the value of a partnership between the school and the community to improve education.
The Vance County Public School Foundation links human and material resources to strengthen our public schools. The foundation has IRS 503C1 status which provides a tax credit for contributors. The foundation also helps our schools meet the many challenges they face especially the recruitment and retention of certified teachers. It was chartered in 1988 and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Over the years, VCPSF has supported the following initiatives:
*TEACHER MINI GRANTS
*NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED TEACHERS (CASH AWARD)
*TEACHER OF THE YEAR RECOGNITION
*PROVIDING MATCHING GRANTS TO SCHOOLS FOR MEDIA
CENTERS FOR BOOKS AND MATERIALS
*HELPED FUND STUDIES FOR SCHOOL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
*SUPPORTED SCHOOL BOND REFERENDUM
*CO-SPONSORED “TEACHER EXECUTIVE INSTITUTE”
*CO-SPONSORED VANCE COUNTY EDUCATION SUMMITS
The VCPSF seeks to leverage the investment of private contributions from business, industry, and individuals to insure the greatest possible impact in our public schools.
