Vance County Schools provides a comprehensive benefits package with insurance options and retirement benefits for all eligible full-time employees.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE HEALTH PLAN INSURANCE
The Plan offers two Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans, the 70/30 and 80/20 Plans, for active and non-Medicare members. PPO plans offer freedom of choice among in-network providers, lower out-of-pocket costs and a strong emphasis on preventive health. The Plan also offers a High Deductible Health Plan for those who are deemed eligible. Enrollment must be completed online within 30 days of hire or during the open enrollment period which is determined each school year.

NC RETIREMENT SYSTEM
The State Retirement systems requires all full-time employees to participate in this benefit at a cost of 6% per pay period to be deducted from your payroll and deposited into your retirement account. Vance County Schools will also contribute to your retirement account at a rate set by the State.

NC SUPPLEMENTAL RETIREMENT PLAN - 401(k), 457 and 403(b)
Saving towards retirement is an important step toward a more financially secure future. Vance County Schools offers a 401(k), 457 and 403(b) plan as a supplemental retirement plan option administered by the NC Department of State Treasurer. Contributions can be made through payroll deduction.

FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PLAN - PIERCE GROUP BENEFITS
This is a voluntary comprehensive benefits plan that offers additional employee-paid benefits. Eligible employees have the opportunity to select the programs in which to participate. Enrollment must be completed within 30 days of hire or during the open enrollment period which is determined each school year. Benefits offered under this plan include:
Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical Reimbursement and Dependent Care Reimbursement), Cancer Benefit, Accident Benefit, Medical Bridge, Disability and Critical Care Benefits

- SICK LEAVE
All full-time employees will earn 1 day of sick leave each month (pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees must work at least a one half of a day in a month to earn leave or be on a paid leave of absence.
- ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE
The amount of leave earned is based on the length of total aggregate State service. Aggregate service shall include full-time employment with the State whether such service was exempt from or subject to the NC State Personnel Act.

- LONGEVITY PAY
Longevity pay is to recognize long-term State service. An eligible employee who has at least ten (10) years of total NC State service shall receive a lump sum payment annually. Annual longevity pay amounts are based on the length of state service and a percentage of the employee's annual rate of pay on the date of eligibility.

- EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
Vance County Schools provides tuition reimbursement to eligible employees seeking assistance to maintain or clear a required teacher license with prior approval of Human Resources and the availability of funds. Tuition reimbursement is not provided for employees seeking advanced degrees unless it is requirement of your job assignment.
