Mrs. Shantelle Smith-Thomas
My name is Shantelle Smith-Thomas and I am the K-5 resource/inclusion teacher here at Zeb Vance. I am an educator with a passion for educating the world's youth, as I believe that we are all just citizens of a global community. This is my 12th year in teaching across two countries. Throughout my tenure, I have taught students with exceptionalities in a K-5 self-contained setting (at L.B Yancey), Science, Social Studies, English Language, History and Biology to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students for 8 years at the secondary level, as well as Social Studies and English Language to regular hearing students grades 7-9. I have also served as an Alternative Pathways to Secondary Education (APSE) Coach (Instructional Coach) at the secondary level. In addition to my professional experience, I carry with me a teaching diploma in Special Education with a major in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education, a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Community Development and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have often said that teaching chose me and this continues to drive my desire to help students maximize their fullest potential. It is my belief that "every child can learn and every child must learn", however they do not all learn the same way or even in the same day and THAT, is where I come in.
