Ms. Jones
Greetings to my bulldog family,
My name is Ms. Jones and I am a native of Henderson, NC. I attended elementary school at the ORIGINAL, Clarke Street Elementary School, middle school at Henderson Middle School, and high school at Southern Vance High School. I am a proud graduate of Vance County Schools and decided to come back and teach in my community.
I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I received my Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. I later went on to study at Grand Canyon University where I received a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading with an Emphasis on Elementary Education. Education always has me itching to know more, so I decided to attend Concordia University where I received a Master's of Education in Educational Leadership.
I am in my 12th year of teaching. I have taught kindergarten for four years, first grade for one year, fourth grade for three years, and fourth/fifth combo for four years. Teaching has its good days and bad days like any other profession, but I honestly can say that I cannot see myself doing anything else.
I have a seventeen-year-old son who takes up a lot of my free time. He enjoys playing baseball, football, and basketball, so I am usually at the baseball field or at a basketball court on the weekends. He is a twelfth grade student at Vance County Early College. He plays football for Vance County High School.
It is an honor to be L. B. Yancey Elementary School's 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year.
