VCPSF Awards LEAP Grants
The Vance County Public School Foundation (VCPSF) awarded eleven Vance County School teachers with Learning that Extends Actual Performance (LEAP) Mini-Grants at the 2022-23 Convocation on August 23 at McGregor Hall. A total of $20,000 was awarded, made possible through the VCPSF and a $10,000 donation from MAKO Medical.

Vance County Schools Honors the 2022 Educators of Excellence
Vance County Schools honors the 2022 Educators of Excellence: Anita Griffith of Zeb Vance Elementary as Teacher of the Year, Launtia Dallas of Clarke Elementary as Beginning Teacher of the Year, Donald Johnson III of Aycock Elementary as Assistant Principal of the Year and Edward Ortega of STEM Early High as Principal of the Year. The awards were presented at the district’s annual Excellence in Education banquet held on Tuesday, August 16th at the Henderson County Club. The banquet honored teachers, staff and administrators from across the district, representing their respective schools.

School Board Approves Three-Year Strategic Plan, Unveils New Logo
On August 8th, the Vance County Schools’ Board of Education Approved the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. Superintendent Dr. Cindy Bennett shared the plan with the board, which includes a revised vision and mission statement and key pillars. Additionally, it also includes an updated version of the Profile of a Graduate, the Profile of a Teacher and the Profile of a Leader.
