Vance County Leaders Complete 2021 Distinguished Leadership in a Remote Learning Environment Program
Vance County Schools is excited to announce staff who have successfully completed the 2021 Distinguished Leadership in a Remote Learning Environment Program (DLR), which is sponsored through the N.C. Department of Public Instruction and developed and provided by the North Carolina Principals & Assistant Principals’ Association. DLR was developed to help school leaders successfully navigate the instructional leadership challenges they face during the pandemic.
The following VCS staff successfully completed the DLR program:
Willonda Cates, Instructional Coach, Pinkston Street
Yolande Dixon, Multi Classroom Leader, Pinkston Steet
Stephanie Alston, Principal, GW Carver
Edward Ortega, Principal, LB Yancey
Angela Cusaac, Administrative Intern, LB Yancey
Amy Rae Macon, Multi Classroom Leader, LB Yancey
Staff who have successfully completed the program have participated in all three components. They have participated in seven synchronous webinars and have completed the online job-embedded asynchronous assignments for each of the components that are directly applicable to their school-specific improvement activities.
Listed below are the three components that have been completed, all of which are directly aligned to the research-based performance evaluation standards adopted by the State Board of Education for North Carolina’s school leaders.
Component One: Developing a Shared Vision for High Quality Instruction in a Remote/Hybrid Learning Environment
Component Two: Promoting and Developing Teacher Effectiveness Through Evaluation and Coaching in a Remote/Hybrid Learning Environment
Component Three: Creating a Collaborative Equitable Culture of High Expectations for Students and Staff in a Remote/Hybrid Learning Environment
We are extremely proud of our staff and all they have accomplished. We are certain this program is making a difference for not only them personally, but their colleagues and students.
