E.M. Rollins Elementary School students began classes for the 2018-2019 school year on Monday, July 23, with the STEAM Academy having a very successful first day.

The year-round school opened for approximately 440 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten have staggered attendance for the first few days of classes.

Principal Stephanie Alston and her staff welcomed students with lots of smiles and high expectations for the school year.

E.M. Rollins continues to focus on project-based learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. The school is offering its students unique experiences in the MakerSpace classroom, LEGO robotics, increased usage of technology to enhance classroom instruction and experiences in physical education, visual art, chorus and musical instrument instruction. The school's String Orchestra again this year will offer special opportunities for students to learn how to play a variety of string instruments.

Students also will be involved in clubs and extra-curricular activities, as well as having opportunities to participate in the school's morning announcements productions broadcast daily to students and staff throughout the school.
