New PIO and Finance Officer Announced

Aarika Sandlin Aarika Sandlin-Vance County Schools Public Information Officer

Aarika Sandlin is the new Public Information Officer for Vance County Schools.  She has been in education for over 15 years as a middle school and high school teacher.  Most recently, she has served as the Testing Coordinator and Yearbook Advisor for Vance County High School.  Mrs. Sandlin has a Master’s in Public Relations in Education from East Tennessee State University and a Bachelor’s degree from Mars Hill University with a major in Journalism and Corporate Communications with a minor in Political Science.

 October 1, 2019 will be Mrs. Sandlin’s official start date as Public Information Officer. Mrs. Sandlin is looking forward to meeting with staff, students and community members to build partnerships and share all of the great work being done in Vance County Schools.

 Mrs. Sandlin lives in Henderson with her husband and two children.


Terry Dudney Terry Dudney-Finance Officer for Vance County Schools

 Terry Dudney is the new Director of Finance for Vance County Schools.  Mr. Dudney is bringing over 20 years of school finance experience as well as accounting experience in the private sector as the new director.  He is certified by the North Carolina Association of School Business Officials as a finance director. 

Mr. Dudney has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting and management.

Mr. Dudney’s official start date with Vance County Schools will be October 1, 2019.
