With the Vance County Board of Education's earlier approval of a restart plan for Vance County High School, the school's academic calendar for the 2019-2020 school year will involve an earlier start.
A restart plan, which is approved by the state, allows a school to operate with more flexibility and to provide more innovative academic services and programs for students.
For the upcoming school year, Vance County High School will follow the same calendar as our Early College High School.
A draft of next year's calendar for both schools is now under consideration with input from school staff members, parents and school system administrators.
The current calendar proposal calls for classes to begin for students on Monday, August 5. First semester exams would be held prior to the Christmas break. The final day of classes would be Thursday, May 21, according to the proposed early start calendar.
