The Vance County Public School Foundation supports our local public schools and encourages the successful development of our younger generation by promoting quality education through community support in Vance County Schools.

The Foundation accepts monetary donations to support programs in Vance County Schools. All donations are tax-deductible.

Our Foundation is led by a volunteer board of approximately 12 community leaders.

Roots of the Foundation go back to 1986 when an $18 million school bond referendum was held. A group of citizens led efforts to raise money to promote the need for the bond referendum to build new schools. The campaign was a huge success and was instrumental in the approval of the bond referendum. As a result, three new elementary schools and a new high school were built.

The citizens involved in the successful campaign saw the need for continued efforts to support our public schools. They became the first board members for the Vance County Public School Foundation, which was incorporated on May 27, 1988. The Foundation has been supporting our public schools since that time.

Our local Foundation helps our schools meet the many challenges they face, especially the recruitment and retention of certified teachers and needed support for enhancement programs and services for students in the 15 local public schools.

Over the years, the Foundation has supported the following initiatives:

  • Teacher Mini Grants
  • National Board Certified Teachers' Cash Awards
  • Vance County Schools Teacher of the Year Recognition
  • Matching Grants to Schools for Media Centers
  • Recognition of Top 10 Percent of Graduating Classes
  • Vance County Teacher Executive Institute
  • Vance County Schools Arts Alive Talent Showcase
  • "Student Spotlight" Recognitions
